London Fashion Week Report
Erdem S/S 2012 Collection
Erdem is always one of my favourite designers and in his spring/summer collection this year he definitely excelled himself. The collection was absolutely stunning, full of pastel, but very modern florals, mixed with a gorgeous embroderie anglais alike fabric, that added a lovely 3D detailed effect to the collection.  Cut into beautiful floaty dresses, blouses and skirts in 40’s and 50’s inspired shapes.  Tight waists and then skirts flowing out, creating beautiful feminine silhouettes. Lots of the fabric he used was lightweight and floaty, creating great movement as the models trotted down the catwalk. The whole collection was infinitely wearable. Trademark shifts and pencil skirts  provided class and set the designer away from some of LFW’s more faddy shows (holymoly.com accessed: 04/11/2011).  He topped lots of the outfits off with cute vintage little hats, including white straw boaters. The colours of the prints reminded me of my nanas pastel hydrangea collection which was always a sure sign of summer. The show crowd were in awe with Erin O’Connor saying ‘’It was like a summer garden, so jubilant. I love that he’s able to create a soft trench with that level of detail and intricacy and that everything he does is so soft and feminine.’’ (Mirnah.tumblr.com accessed: 04/11/2011).  Though the majority of the collection was in icy shades of blue, which I always do think of as slightly wintery, It remained spring/summer due to the injections of pinks, reds and yellows. Also the abundance of white is a clear indicator of a great summer collection. Erdem was definitely one of my favourite collections at London Fashion Week, even though I’m usually drawn to the totally out there,  conceptual fashion, his collections are always so beautiful and feminine I’m always drawn to them.
